The Golden Age of Children’s Television is defined as the 1940′s through the 1970′s, however I contend that it lasted just a bit longer, with sparks of brilliance lasting into the mid 1980′s. In this pilot episode, I examine one of the most defining moments of children’s television; Sesame Street episode 1839 ‘Farewell, Mr. Hooper’ aired on Thanksgiving 1983, addressing the death of Will Lee, beloved actor of Harold Hooper.
